For sandwiches on toasted bread, spicy snack foods are usually used in a variety of combinations: cold-smoked fish, caviar, herring, sharp cheese (Roquefort), seedless olives, pâtés and others.
It is so a beautiful, appetising, tasty snack that it can replace all other snacks if you prepare sandwiches of various products.  It is a good snack to serve before dinner for evening tea.

When are canapes prepared?

Canapes are usually prepared before serving to keep them fresh and appetising. They can be prepared in advance, but it is best to do so no more than a few hours before serving.

How long does it take to make canapes?

The time it takes to prepare a canape depends on the complexity of the recipe and the number of ingredients. It usually takes from 10 to 30 minutes. For example, simple canapés with cheese and grapes can be prepared in 10-15 minutes, while more complex options with fish or meat can take up to 30 minutes.
